We're now ready to start full time van life in winter as we head to the Arctic Circle! We feel like we've winter proofed this bus to withstand the -30 degree temperatures that we'll encounter on this trip - This IS the ultimate winterised van and we cannot wait to experience van life Norway after spending SO long on the van renovation! Fingers crossed this is Custard's final van build.

We live in Norway, as well as about 4-5 millions. We don't die. We drive on icy roads, but when it's rain on ice on the road it's not necessery to drive like maniacs. Just take contact us if you're in trouble. I guess a lot of other Norwegians are ready to help you too. We are very kind in Norway.

You will safe a lot of energy if you wrap your external pipes (right over the heated wires) with the grey noodle-ly foam insulation stuff for pipes they sell in every hardware store. Same with the grey tank-there's a self-adhesive neoprene foam-Armaflex that you could use to wrap the tank. With your current setup most of the power goes wasted to the outside air, as air has better conductivity than the plastic pipes/tank.

Heated matress pad for your bed will keep you toasty under the covers even if the van is only at 5 degrees. Cheers from Canada!

Remember, if going to Sweden, you need winter tyres. Preferably studded tyres if going north of Stockholm. You cant drive with chains on here, just a solution if you get stuck and needs to get out. Tyres for a bus, that is really expensive. Be prepared, and your adventure will be epic! Have fun!

I live in Canada and swesr by Sorel boots. Amee, you might want something that's a bit taller. Mine go up to my knees. Keeps your feet and legs warm and keeps the snow out. Another tip is to take hot water bottles to bed with you. Happy adventuring, lads!

If you have a regular(old fashion) light bulb, it will keep your engine warm. You need an extension cord with a light bulb socket.
