The worst scammer I've ever met in Africa is called iam_marwa. He and his family have scammed people out of thousands of dollars, and it seems like there's no way to stop his cult following. Now, Marwa's sister, Dee Mwango, is following in his footsteps, organizing GoFundMe campaigns that only enrich their family.

As an African I have to say Marwa channel has absolutely no cultural content. It was a drama TV show. People love to watch drama. But yeah I have never relied on his channel for travel advices. Pretty much an empty content. It was great to see Africans being able to travel the world and open their views to other cultures. Unfortunately, he was not great in that department. I stopped watching him for over 3 years. I hope he can fix this situation.

I am truly sorry about your situation, it is heart felt. I have had my own experience in trying to assist persons in Kenya, and the money was used for something else or never used at all. Misappropriation, sigh!

I sensed a red flag when he said that they were poor. His mom is a teacher, and his dad was a teacher. That means they lived a better life than most villagers. They could afford food on their tables and they went to better schools than their peers in the village. Working hard around the farm on weekends and evenings after school is not poor is part of our Kenyan life as kids. We are thought of responsibilities at a young age (what Americans term as child labor). For us, it is our normal routine, and there's nothing wrong with that.
They play poor, or rather, they were poor to get views. They never lacked food, shoes, or USERS.

I have always said;
1. Marwa sometimes struggles with English, I wonder how he was a teacher of English
2. In most cases when traveling he is usually clueless about the destination
3. He acts like he knows it all but doesn't. He couldn't fix his mother's Cooker. You can see him struggling on how to do it
4. The fact that he does something like he is guessing like spending so much money on getting a generator which ends up failing, gets another one then finally gets a solar installation
5. He is a bully. He always shoots down what Rosio suggests and that's why she is feeling very out of space and homesick and tired with the village life.

I think he needs to have a financial advisor.
