Good point, if your going to profit off of this sort of thing, at least try to help

When Shane Dawson was trending, D’angelo Wallace made a YouTube video about the terrible things he did. His channel sky rocketed. He got 10M+ views on that video alone. No ads.

Incase you missed the intro,
“THERE’S NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE WITH ORIGINALITY, SO HERE I AM TO SAVE THE DAY. JAYNIAC!”

I'll be completely honest, I didn't really think about this. I too jumped on the bandwagon and started watching a lot of videos about this subject because I wanted to know more about it. After watching them from many different channels I did come to the conclusion that they were all parroting the sane information, sometimes even phrased exactly the same. No unique take on it, no idea on how to fix things, no imput from the people involved. Just a narration of the same terrible, horrific stories. Thanks for bringing this issue into light.

blameitonjorge is a pioneer in the eerie, hard to talk about side of YouTube, thank u for giving him credit.

Dan Schneider isn’t the only person who does this stuff, so if they really cared then they would do videos on other people that are issues within Hollywood

You do have a good point. I feel like a lot of people do this. I never did like how some people monetize their videos for discussing situations like this. I think it should be left not monetized out of respect for the victims.
salazar
He might be a bad guy but you have to admit his shows are legendary.
TalesofanEnigma
I literally hate him and youtubers taking advantage of what happened to some people involved with him

The fact that Ghislaine Maxwell's case has been ongoing for almost a year and it's been near radio silence. They know what gets clicks, they don't really care about the closure (even if they don't support dan)
BerriesandScreams
He was a good writer (or showrunner), not a good person.

People like to jump on bandwagons.
I'm sure some people are actually really invested/care about this issue, but the fact is, once something becomes popular, everyone wants a piece of it.
I appreciate you pointing this out because not a lot of people think about the efficacy of what they do or say, they just want to be a part of something
bluebutterfly
you should talk more about how youtubers profit off of stuff like this

I love this perspective on this. Usually people wouldn't question it because we all see that it's a huge issue and there are actual victims involved. But I can compare it to how some Youtubers talk about social issues (ex. Black Lives Matter) just because it pulls in more people, makes them look good and/or it's the "right thing to do to spread awareness" but have no intentions going deeper than that or even mention it again on a regular day to day. How many of them you see talking about it after the peak of its conversation wasn't in the mainstream eye anymore? Only a few. If you are so concerned about an issue, it needs to be spoken about from a legitimate cause.

I love the alliteration
Also I totally agree with you and appreciate you making this video

There’s a difference between reporting news or hanging onto a cash cow. The cash cow situation is happening a lot more lately, especially since YouTube has gone more “corporate”. I love how meta this is btw lol Desensitization is a problem though.

I feel like a lot of the creators of the videos are just trying to get awareness while making some money as well. Most of the news outlets don't really give a lot of info into the topics so it sucks that they're using victims stories but it is also an awareness so more people can learn about it.

Thank you so much!!!! I hate people that capitalize on sensitive topics. I dont care if you wanna share about it, then dont make money on it. Stop @Sloan

I feel like this is the “Chris Hansen” effect. All these youtubers think they can play Chris Hansen and take down people....while also getting copious amounts from the videos. It’s why I stopped watching certain channels, they literally turned into Chris Hansen clones, which to me, is more sensationalizing things rather than actually helping.
meganspalletta-ferrari
I’ve seen a few videos on him by Slo4n, and they’re kind of hard to sit through. It’s so painfully obvious that Slo4n is trying not to get demonetized, and has even went as far as to censor the word “grooming”.
How can you fluently talk about a situation like this when you can’t even allow yourself to say some of the “main words” of issue?
