Salam alaikum, I understand what brother Nouman is trying to say but if you're competitive in sports it shouldn't be a problem since its is healthy to play sports. BUT you cannot let that game/sport take you out of the worship of Allah. Also playing video games mentally helps you but you cannot be addicted to anything.

I use to be addicted to basketball I use to play it at the park then watch NBA then play NBA 2k on xbox also must have my Jordan shoes, socks and shorts. Got to make the team and then go pro make millions. Millions of kids have this unrealistic dream its okay if you like a sport but dont put it ahead of your deen, your family, your education. Set your priorities straight. May Allah swt guide and forgive us
