Despite a snowstorm and frigid temperatures near Moscow's Izmailovsky Kremlin, numerous worshippers gathered on Thursday to observe the Orthodox Epiphany. Braving -5 degrees Celsius (23 Fahrenheit), participants immersed themselves in icy pond waters, believing the ritual symbolically cleanses them of sins. The Russian Orthodox Church officially observes Epiphany on January 19, but festivities begin the day before, commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River. Despite the snow, temperatures were relatively milder than usual, reaching -10 to -20 degrees Celsius (14 to -5 Fahrenheit) during this time of year.

I would’ve given thanks to my Lord Jesus for graciously giving me the strength to endure and dove in backwards, swimming to the other side. Lol. All the glory be to God! 🙏🏻✌️
