Blackheads are one of the most common skin problems. A simple way to approach this is -

.
.
Prevention: The use of simple salicylic acid washes can help. Start off once a day with something like Neutrogena salicylic acid wash. Increase to twice a day as required. Additionally retinol or retinoids may help.
.
.
Exfoliation can be achieved with scrubs, acids, or a device like a Clarisonic
.
.
Dermatologists employ peels such as salicylic acid with concentrations ranging from 8% to 30%, as well as AHAs or alpha hydroxy acids such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, mandelic acid, pyruvic & citric acid. Retinoid peels with retinoic acid as the active ingredient are also employed; concentration ranging from 0.5 to 5%.

I don’t exactly have blackheads. I have colorless heads (look like a tiny pimple but they’re not), and they produce white substance when extracted. I don’t wear makeup and all my skin products are noncomedogenic, and designed for acne prone skins. They never stop forming 💔

Dr Lim, thanks for the generous sharing. Dermatologist seldom shares so much in order to protect their own business... you are different.. 😀

I have been following your videos and find it very useful even I took longer time to digest the information. I wonder those product which the brand is mentioned is not sponsoring your blog/ video etc? As a layman, we just go out and get the stuff without bringing our magnifying glass to look for BHA, Retinol etc etc in the small prints... so your mentioning if the
brand name is much easier.. but then we thought if those are sponsors... 😅

Thank you once again, appreciated .

Prevention is the key to a beautiful skin 🔑 sadly nobody is talking about that. Great video doc. Liked 😃

I used to use a needle for sometimes up to an hour on my face getting all my blackheads as a teen, its so satisfying and it gets it all out. I always used the pointy end and pressed flat on my skin poking into a blackhead to be able to take them out. probably safer your way! aha

Thank you Doc! But, how about these tiny black heads 'hoovers'? I am curious to know if they are worth it or not, and if they can damage the skin...? Thank you!

Thanks so much for the info! What would be the best method you discussed for someone with a history of POD, rosacea, and sensitive skin, with blackheads only on their nose?

I've always heard an exfoliant like SA should only be used on the face no more than 3x per week. I'm using it in a wash, should I use it every day?
