I have like five translations of Beowulf stacked up at home now. Decided to make it a whole hecking project. xD

I've been thinking of reading Headley's translation of Beowulf, but the modernness of it makes me a little wary. For some reason, I like my translations of epic poetry to not be so modern. It just feels weird when you're reading about stuff that's meant to have happened a thousand years ago, and they're all, "Hey, bro! What's up?" But my library has the audiobook of Headley's translation and it's only four hours long so I'll probably just give that a try.

I will for sure pick up Bro-Beowulf haha! This sounds like so much fun 😂 I am taking your idea with Spanish and going to refresh my Japanese minor. It’s been a year and I am already losing it!

I am reading the Bro-Beowulf this month. I hope to have it done before the Stitch and Bitch because I think I remember that you all were planning on talking about it this month. I could be wrong about that though.

The Beowulf translation sounds amazing, and I already loved the one by Seamus Heaney!

I really want to pick up Headley's translation since I know nothing of Beowulf and sometimes struggle with older English.

Reading books in Spanish regardless of whether they for younger readers is still impressive and is so good to see yout determination to boost your spanish skills. It will be a long time before I'm at that point with French though I am looking forward to when I can try. I have The Doomed City sitting on my chair waiting to be read, probably this weekend. You've made me decide to not put it off again as I was starting to think that way. Hearing you speak about Browolf was as great as I'd hoped it would be.

I read a few children's picture books that are really inventively told - maybe because I make comics and looking for cool new ways to use images and text

Okay I have to admit that Beowulf translation sounds really fun, might have to try it. Also good to know you enjoyed The Doomed City, maybe I'll try that one too next year (like you I enjoyed Roadside Picnic well enough and was 🤨 at The Snail on the Slope lol). Also your Spanish accent is really good, no doubt you'll pick what you learned back up in no time. 🙂
