Depends on the shooter. Steph does have the gap right before he release the ball which is very quick and that angle is hard to see. People like Kobe, LeBron, old skool type two motion shooting, they have the gap from the get go. The gap gives the ball extra rotations

What are you talking about I have Stephen Curry's Masterclass and he also teaches to have a gap between the hand and the ball

I personally shoot more accurate with having a little gap like that because snapping the wrist is easier that way

For me: to develop form, make sure to jump and then release, don't release as you're jumping, you release in midair, and then make sure the form you're developing is comfortable for you, that helps with aim is to be comfortable first

if u look at curry his thumb comes with the ball too when he shoots, that isn't great form but it works for him😂

Everybody has the gap right there it's to give more grip and control of the ball

It depends on the shooter especially now of days everyone gets taught to have the gap if you’ve been taught to use the gap and learned to shoot that way and got comfortable you don’t have to learn a new form

That gap works for me because it gets some consistency with the shots

The key is to shoot with ur own style that makes u feel comfortable when shooting the ball...

That's not a lie. The gap allows the ball to rotate off the fingers increase velocity aerodynamics.

This is for 3 point shooting, because when you lose the gap you can't control your shot, but if you shoot 3s you don't have to control the power of your shot you ussualy gotta use all of your power. So u can use it while shooting treys but if u are a midrange shooting guard (like kobe, mj, ai) never eva lose the gap.

Everyone shoots differently. Just because Steph doesn’t have a gap doesn’t mean you should copy it.

I literally reached the self realization just yesterday, i noticed that whatever your grip is, to be able to spin the ball properly it is necessary for the ball to be released by fingers not from your palm. If u get that feeling, you know

So im varsity basketball in high school and it all depends. If you are a big man, then get that space in between the ball and your hand, but if you are smaller and a good shooter, that get your hand all the way on that ball, and it should always go in. But it all depends on if you can shoot or if you suck

So my preference to this a little day-light gap between the ball and palm. It's covering your whole fingers and top palm, but on the base of your hand their is a little bit light going through.

I mean, u don't catch the ball with just your fingers. Sometimes u can, but when u have to shoot quickly because of an incoming defender, u will be catching the ball with your palm, but still shoot it with a gap.

I mean Steph did say that as a fundamental to put the gap between the hand and the ball. He said that everyone has a different way of shooting and that putting a gap between your hand and the ball is a good way to start off and if you feel more comfortable putting your palm on the ball then u can do that.
