As a South African citizen I just want to clarify that the corrupt ANC government DOES NOT represent the will of the South African people. Their defence of the tyrannical Russian government only serves to further their own corrupt dealings with Russian oligarchs. We the South African people stand firmly against Russia.

Evidence, we just need him to provide evidence for his accusations.

Well that’s almost a billion dollars the US can redirect away from South Africa to Ukraine.

I would like to add my voice to what someone else has said in the comment section. A big number of us the citizens of Africa actually cherish values of freedom and democracy. Unfortunately we are powerless against our dictatorial and corrupt leaders who are choosing to align with fellow autocrats. That said, I’m also disappointed western governments continue to work with and support some of our autocratic leaders.

Edit:The question of removing autocrats from power is not one that should be taken lightly, particularly in the African context. The continent has a long history of colonialism and exploitation, which has left many nations with limited resources and weak institutions. These challenges are further compounded by the legacy of post-independence leadership, which has often been characterized by authoritarian rule, corruption, and political instability.

Despite these challenges, many Africans have made valiant efforts to hold their leaders accountable and remove autocrats from power. However, the road to democracy is fraught with obstacles, including institutional weaknesses, lack of resources, and often brutal repression from those in power. Under such circumstances, it is understandable that progress towards democracy may be slow and incremental.

It is important to recognize that the challenge of removing autocrats from power is not unique to Africa. Even advanced nations such as Russia have struggled with this problem, as evidenced by the recent protests against President Putin's regime. The fact that such struggles persist in a nation with far greater resources and stronger institutions than many African nations should give us pause.

Western societies that enjoy freedom and democracy should not take these rights for granted. It is all too easy for a single individual with no respect for institutions to undermine the democratic process. The recent example of former President Trump's attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 US presidential election highlights just how fragile democratic institutions can be.

In light of these challenges, it is incumbent upon us to protect democracy jealously. This means supporting efforts to strengthen democratic institutions in Africa and elsewhere, as well as speaking out against authoritarianism wherever it arises. We must recognize that the struggle for democracy is ongoing and that no nation, no matter how advanced, is immune to the threat of autocracy.

As a South African, I am mortified at the mere thought that this may be true! It is bad enough not to condemn Russia's war, something else entirely to actively support it.

It is an opposite of what South Africa used to claim that it stands against injustices around the world by supporting Putin’s carnage of innocent Ukrainian civilians. South Africa fought hard against injustices and apartheid and it is unfortunate that today South Africa is in the wrong side of history.

South Africa and Africa as a whole should stay out of this war. Y'all don't have a dog in the fight, so don't foolishly mess with the future of your people by getting involved😏
