When I first enlisted in 86 and went to Ft. Benning Infantry School I saw one of the last Spec 8’s.
He was a cook.

I think they should bring back the specialist ranks. I lost a lot of good soldiers who are great at their job (I'm a ch-47 mechanic) but not too good at soldiering. PT test or no problem for them but they're just not leaders in the army aspect. Because of that, They got out because they didn't want to make rank and just wanted to work. If we had specialist ranks back we could have those awesome mechanics or whatever your job is and not have to force them to become NCOs..

I'm a USAF E-7, I've been trying to understand Specialist rank my whole career. Can you make a video explaining how and why you become a specialist. Yall have two E-4s wtf.

Was a E4 in the army. Now I am a SPC9 in my field of work…

What do you think about bringing back this path of promoting to let people keep doing there mos that don't want to be leadership? I think this could help with retention. Not everyone needs to be a leader or even wants to be a leader. Let workers work.

Bring back the specialist ranks! Not everyone should be forced into an a nco position! The current promotion sysmtem seems completely backwards from what it used to be
