Considering they generally lose money on console sales at least at first, XBox isn’t making a Pro equivelant, and they don’t have much for first party stuff coming up, I’m actually surprised they’re going through with this as there is really no technical reason to. Unless they heard GTA 6 was going to run better on XBox again like RDR2 and didn’t want to miss that ship. It will def be 600-700 considering the reg PS5 actually went up in price in some regions recently. And we’ll see how bad the scalper situation is. Even the Portal was sold out for a while and the consensus at the time was nobody wanted that.

We also don’t have an easy marketing tagline for this Pro. Last gen 1080p to 4K (or in the PS4 Pro’s case 1440p most of the time) was a visible upgrade for people to see. The PS5 Pro is using the same CPU (so any CPU bottlenecks will be there as well) and it’s rumored to have a focus on a new upscaler. It could help as UE5 is extremely heavy on console and PC, so getting that internal resolution above 720p will make a difference. But is it a 700 dollar difference. If this is the norm moving forward, to buy 2 consoles per platform every gen to maintain the same midrange performance, I’m going to go all in on PC next gen (just have a Steam Deck now). Really curious what they have in it though as without a wow factor it’s going to be a wet fart. I’ll probably still buy one though, and Sony knows it. Lol.
