Wow. It's a hot mess. No surprise. JJ and crew doesn't know anything about the vision of Star Trek. We called it Dead on Arrival.

Overstuffed visuals, incessant droning background music, unlikable characters, irritating titled camera angles, stiff dialog, inane direction and poorly acted, and just plain BAD. I don't know what I saw tonight, but I know it WASN'T Star Trek, and as much as I love science fiction and Star Trek for that matter, I was literally screaming "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!" at my television.

Mr. Patten you rave about Star Trek Discovery, and yet you call The Orville which is closer to Star Trek than ANYTHING on television in the last decade, "purposeless"?? I question your judgement in this case. In fact, I call BULLSHIT.

It was terrible! I'm certainly not going to pay to watch it on all access either. The Orville was much better and actually felt like Star Trek. Discovery, felt forced and was hard to even watch. It's even worse than J.Js horrible movies.

Apparently the cast and producers have been caught 'taking a knee' for their premier... When the producers say Klingon's are Trump supporters, and have Burnham declaring the correct course of action is to shoot first before they do, I have to declare ST: D to wrapped up in the production crews politics to be a reasonable outing of a Star Trek show.

Orville might not be fully there yet, but even in it's 3rd episode, Captain Ed was willing to challenge his views to try and see things from the Moclen perspective. That's the enlightened Star Trek I've come to expect. Not this BSG, Star Wars rip off. Somehow I doubt things will get any better unless the production team and writers zip up their politics and tell the story of the Klingon war, ala how Axanar would have done it.

Anybody who says it sucks is nuts. I saw both episodes. I get the feeling Discovery may be a rogue ship or not by the book kind a ship during war. I am blown away!!! DS9 Flavor for sure.

Shenzu ship well designed. The the red toss and tng red aler sound was geat showing up at the hall breach seen. The red alert look sound was neat and the even the look of one of the panels like star trwk 1 to 6 amd the excelsior red alerts lcards
