the SU-27s maneuverability doesnt really suprise me really, its always been known for the really good maneuverability

The Su-27 is certainly a marvel of aerodynamics, which I believe is what gives this jet its incredible AoA performance. A combination of leading edge flaps, leading edge root extensions, a lift-generating fuselage, and just a wide area thanks to its size help give the Flanker the performance that we see.

Edit: The manuvering flaps and very powerful engines also contribute. Its a formidable maneuvering package for its size :)

A tip for using ‘full-real controls’: you can significantly reduce the amount of bouncing you get in the controls by binding the ‘SAS functions’ key. It’ll let you turn on your stability augmentation systems which are incredibly helpful for stabilizing the flight characteristics and getting a smoother ride.

You lose a little bit of AOA capability with SAS set to dampen but what you lose you make up for in precision and stability. You won’t stall or rip wings with SAS on unless you really screw up.

The “cobra button” is just the switch to turn off SAS.

Thanks so much, Phly! You remind me of watching your video 4 years ago and really want to start playing War Thunder. Now watching this video, it shows the game can be fun, not just ALMOST FUN, despite the painful long grinds, the emptyness of no new content after reaching the end of the tech trees, and the salty gameplays of all these years. The last dog fight/air dance part really gives me a good goosebump (also KUDOS to the BGM).

I don't even play war thunder anymore, but it's still neat to see what all it has now. Crazy to think it will probably unironically have 5th gen aircraft eventually. Probably 5 years max

If you want to dive into the aerodynamics of the Su-27 and why it can do what it can do there's an old aviation documentary i remember watching about it way back. It was an episode of "Wings of the red star".

My grandpa used to fly this plane, but the first he flew it the engines failed and he was forced to eject. Once he was let to fly again he became a commandeer and commanded a small group of mig 21 and Su 27
