How does an MRI scan work? - in Virtual Reality

Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”

- Alexander Graham Bell

Knowing what to expect before an MRI scan can be an important part of a positive patient experience. Patients who are well prepared are likely to be calmer, which helps scans to run smoothly and lets your staff work more efficiently. Both patient and staff satisfaction play a role in your institution’s economic well being.

We have recognized the value of good preparation. Using virtual reality, we have created an experience that takes your patients on a journey – not just telling them but showing them what to expect. Together with Infor-Med, Maxima Medical Center Veldhoven and Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen, we’re bringing MRI to life and helping enhance the patient experience.

I had one done on my lower leg today, it took 45 minutes! It’s challenging to stay out for that long

Philips Healthcare, nice video but the 360 metadata was not embedded properly and cannot be viewed as VR. Really wish you could take a look at that for us ;)

Referring to the MR technologist as an "operator" is insulting. The person performing your MR exam will hopefully be a caring, attentive, observant, and highly qualified Technologist. This is not a carnival ride. This is a sophisticated and dangerous machine, controlled by sophisticated and capable people. The quality of the magnet is only half of the equation. The people under whose care you are at the moment, are the other half. As an imaging tech, there is a vast divide in the quality of technologists performing these exams. This can make all the difference. The difference between a ositve or a negative experience, the difference between a good or a bad day. Sorry to rant. I am a tech, and i take pride in my work.
