You can order the shirt I’m wearing (along with other awesome designs) at BunkerBranding.com. Just go to their site and search World War Wisdom to shop my collection. It really helps support my page!

They're cool, they just aren't practical anymore. Adding wheels means it can't zero-turn, adding tracks means it destroys roads, is harder to repair, and more expensive to make.

Problem? There's a half-track for that.

Useful when war logistics lines were ground based for most of the war. Where as modern day logistics lines are aerial via cargo planes lile the c-5, c-17, and the good ol c-130.

I think the reason the halftrack design was abandoned may be that it's versatile, or in other words, not Specialised enough. What it can do in any given role, a specialised vehicle will likely do better, and in the modern world, specialised vehicles are the norm, because we don't fight wars where we need versatility anymore. We fight smaller more localized wars that are much easier to specialise for.
If we had another conventional world war, we'd probably see halftracks become much more common again.

The half track with a quad .50 looks like the most fun you can have on two wheels and two tracks

You could argue that halftracks are kind of still a thing in agriculture and forestry. Rubber track conversions are sometimes used to convert wheeled vehicles, and in some cases only one axle gets converted, usually the one that carries the highest load

I actually saw a Tractor Truck awhile back that had half tracks! I don't know the exact name of it but it was at a factory like place for work. It was interesting to see this giant machine.

The M2 is probably one of the coolest vehivles ever made.

My great grandfather was a Halftrack driver for resupply missions in europe. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but he told my father that the majority of his hearing loss was due to the M2 firing right above his head.

My grandpa drove a half track in World War II

Half-tracks walked so APCs like the M113 could run.

Half tracks would have been so useful to have in ww1, especially with the muddy terrain. Do you have any ww1 gear or do you ever reenact ww1? Because I reenact ww1 Belgium and I was wondering if you knew of any big reenactment events for ww1

That mobile artillery vehicle was actually just a tank destroyer.

Most Soldiers hate half tracks. They require twice the amount of maintenance required to keep them operational.

Half tracks are actually one of my favorites armored vehicles

Much like the m2, the German sd.kfz.251 had far too many variants to keep (half)track of

I love the hanomag, it's beautiful and I wish it was still used today

They are some of the coolest vehicle designs imo. Especially the Panzerwerfer and the m16 half track. imo
