I have this theory. In the peru chase optimus prime becomes stronger and he became even more stronger in the final battle. Why? Its Because He Lost Bumblebee In The First Battle Of ROTB And he feel anger after scourge kills bumblebee. So just like bumblebee. Optimus takes off his head just like how scourge takes off bumblebee's logo

One thing I noticed further along in the film is that apeling’s insignia is missing from scourge’s shoulder when he attaches bumblebee’s and when optimus takes it back
