“Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force”

God I love that line.

Such an iconic scene! I'm never tired of re-watching it!

Poor Vader. You can tell that he really wishes he had someone to talk to about the force — that’s why he’s always bringing it up at the most random times. Too bad he helped kill off most of the Jedi and the ones that still live are terrified of him.

It has been well-established in-universe that Vader was known for strangling officers who fail or piss him off for two decades, so either Motti is incredibly ill-informed, willfully ignorant or so arrogant that he believes Vader wouldn't dare kill him.

I do love the way Vader says "As you wish" in such a casual tone whilst waiting to the very last second to let Motti go.

1:04 idk why but I find it funny how fast Vader and Tarkin turn their heads when the Admiral starts talking.

Dave Prowse and James Earl Jones, both gone now, the former in 2020, the latter just a couple of months ago.

This scene is so fantastic. Atmosphere, the set, acting, dialogue, world-building, and showing just how threatening Vader is. This movie is a masterpiece and it changed popular culture forever!

And RIP James Earl Jones 🙏

I love the great detail they put into Vader's breathing.

If you listen carefully he is breathing very rapidly when he gets cross with the man he is force choking but when calm his breathing is normal.

RIP James Earl Jones, one of many Star Wars scenes made iconic by that incredible voice

What I love the most about Vader is something that you don't often realize... When he uses the force, all of his hand gestures are not necessary at all, since all of his limbs are actually mechanical at this point, but he still does it for an extra dose of "F You" to the opponent! :D

"Don't try to frighten us with your source ways Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion does not help you conjure up the stolen data tapes."

You look back now and the line about "data tapes" hits you as being straight out of the 70's. I LOVE this scene though. "I find your lack of faith disturbing" has always been one of my favorite lines of the entire trilogy. This scene delivers a lot of information about the senate and that Vader has bosses other than the emperor, but that line about faith was just so cold and gangster.
