Starbucks just closed a 30 year location that operated in Manhattan NYC since the 90's, and was once the largest of its kind in the city. Store workers blame rent increases which the landlord disputes, but local residents think the store may have had other problems that lead to its closure...

It amazes me how many people are either oblivious, or in absolute denial about what's going on. America is fucked.

The New York justice system needs to be sued for malicious prosecution, failure to follow the law, failure to protect the citizens, and incompetence!

Imagine letting crime ruin your downtown and then being surprised when your downtown is ruined.

Indoor seating, lounging and socializing implies living in a high-trust society… relics of a bygone era in certain parts of the US!

Brazil, unfortunately, is known for violence. I lost my father when I was ten years old, victim of a criminal. My unforgettable father worked for two airlines (an excellent position) and also opened a grocery store. Bandit entered the establishment to steal and took his life. A real wreck in my life. It happened in the 80s and today I see that people tolerate crime. Don't accept what is wrong, as it could get much worse. Excellent Sunday to everyone. Keep up the work

If all these stores keep closing, how are the shoplifters going to survive? This is deeply concerning, and the government needs to do something about it.

I don't understand, why New Yorkers don't understand, that you get what you vote for.

I live in a 3rd world country. We don't have this kind of insanity in our country.

Starbucks in NYC was VERY tolerant of intolerant people.

I'm a Canadian. I'm surprised at how little foot traffic and car traffic is showing in this video. NYC really is in bad shape. Thanks for your informative videos. There is no such thing as victimless crime.

I’ve worked in NYC cafes for 20 years and I can promise you if a coffee shop doesn’t give free water to the homeless or let them use the bathroom, they will not have significant issues.

Michael Savage used to say liberalism was a mental illness. I thought he was being hyperbolic. I owe him an apology.

I fled a couple years ago. Sad thing is, the law abiding citizens of nyc and ny state will vote for the loonatics who endorse and protect this nightmare, over and over again.

NYC is now trash. If Starbucks is leaving, it must be bad.

So, I live in an area that is quite nice and have lived here for over 40 years (essentially my whole life). I haven't been to this one particular book store in over a year, but went three days ago. I noticed that all of the armchairs and couches had been removed, so no more sitting quietly and enjoying yourself with your new book. While I was checking out, a customer popped up and asked the clerk, "What's the code for the bathroom?" and the clerk gave her a quick 4-digit number. Obviously, they have also locked down the restrooms to control who goes in. Although I appreciate safety measures designed to keep control and prevent crime, it's so sad to see these changes. I had heard that the area of town that the bookstore is in has been declining because of crime and drug use, but it's still shocking when I can clearly remember how different it was even 3 years ago! I am so worried about how things will look 3 years in the future....but it's not looking good.
