Deploy an OVA or OVF Template on VMware ESXi

Here at Cisco Systems many of our products can now be downloaded as ovf or ova files. This walkthrough shows me deploying the CNR (Cisco Network Registrar) to a UCS C-Series Bladeserver.

What is the difference between an OVA and OVF file?

"An OVF package consists of several files, placed in one directory. A one-file alternative is the OVA package, which is a TAR file with the OVF directory inside."

What to find out more about the CNR (Cisco Network Registrar)?

Perfect! With this information, I was able to figure out how to create my own deployment images for our servers.

For anyone doing the same, remember to run SysPrep to make the image generic.

Thanks for your upload I arrived here hoping to learn how to deploy a OVA file not an OVF, but thanks for the explanation of what an OVA is, still don't know how to deploy an OVA in vSphere client for my ESXi .

Thank you for making this wonderful video. It would take much more time for me if I go read the documents. :)

My ova is giving an error saying I need a vCenter.  Is there a way to bypass the vCenter requirement?

Good.
But the first minute (about getting somewhere of fucking OVF) - can be omitted. ;-)
