Exploring behaviour from a governance perspective (with Better Governor)

This Better Governor webinar will focus on pupil behaviour in schools and the role of governance in securing an effective strategic oversight. We will explore the latest Department for Education guidance, reflecting on the key links to safeguarding and the government’s aim to reduce suspensions and exclusions through careful consideration of behaviour management strategies. We will share good practice initiatives for monitoring behaviour by governors and reflect on how Ofsted inspectors make their judgement on Behaviour and Attitudes, as part of the inspection function.

I attended this morning’s webinar and asked a couple of questions but did not think to ask if there was any research on unconscious bias.

Just finished an eye opening book by Jeffrey Boakye, a black teacher, called, “I Heard That”. He observes that a disproportionate number of children on the wrong end of the behaviour policy are black. Suggesting an inconsistency in the way the policy is applied.
