While working at the largest shopping center in Hawaii, we had to confront and escort a guy carrying a compound bow and arrows off the property. The guy was a total nut case. We were unarmed. We called for police assistance but we were able to take care of it prior to police arrival.

I was working at a transit station couple of weeks ago in and a man with an axe boarded a bus, I made contact with him issued verbal commands and took the axe and secured it until PD showed up. He tried to escalate on me but I moved quick enough to stop him from grabbing the axe.

I know you dislike the use of Byrna because it resembled a firearm. But the company I work with now actually supplies us the use of Byrna. We work in a commercial area which was a mall and there was a gentleman with a 10 inch blade or some sort chasing kids with it and we responded to the call almost immediately. Me and 3 other unarmed guards responded to it and keep it mind we are all unarmed. The others had OC spray only and I had Taser, baton, etc and my Byrna SD. We approached him and told him to put the knife down as we all kept our distance and me having had already drawn my byrna. He didn’t comply to our commands as we told him to put the knife down and to keep his distance to which we tried to contain the situation until Local law enforcement had arrived until he tried to charge at us resorting to me deploying my byrna with the pepperball rounds and Kinetic rounds firing off 5 shots. He then went down and as he did the I told the other guards to keep other people away from the area and I then proceeded to do a citizens arrest as well as I was the only person with a vest to protect me as well. PD arrived and then took custody and we provided the information and everything they needed from us.

This is basically the gist of it. Not sure how much more right it could have gone but we did what we thought was right at the time. And Byrna definitely saved my ass at least that time.

I have a question, why do you give seat belt tickets to people in cars & trucks when motorcycles arent equipt with them, I mean is the law like fk it theyre gonna die anyway?
