I had mentioned that I didn't wanna ruin or permanently warp my cards to a friend and he was just like "well you're not planning on selling them, so it's not that big a deal" and tbh it made me feel better. He also plays magic and has for longer than I have. Honestly, as long as they last long and the art/important bits don't get ruined, I'm good

A Faro shuffle does the same thing without damaging the cards. Not sure if you can Faro on Magic cards. Faro works on playing cards though. Cards may warp slightly but this is normal breaking in. But if you bend a card too far it gets a permanent crease. My Bike deck is creased from 2 weeks of Riffles. I was bending them hard though. I got good enough to go a little easier and this may help. Have to test it out with a new deck. Riffle & bridge is a foundational shuffle/card move so its hard not to do it. Cool video. Im curious to see how Magic cards feels compared to playing cards. Probably thicker paper

You should be testing this with single and double sleeved cards and comparing the results rather than draft chaffing regular cards. People with decks don't usually play raw, and the stiffness factors of sleeves are a variable.

Personally, I started riffle shuffling more this year because I found the card quality doesn't go down if they're double sleeved. Also, the randomization is quicker, which is the purpose of shuffling. Mashing takes longer to get a truly proper randomized deck.
