Naughty Dog is Abandoning the Uncharted series…

Neil Druckmann recently revealed that Naughty Dog has "moved on" from the Uncharted franchise. So does this mean that we won't be getting an Uncharted 5? It would be sad if we have to say goodbye to such an amazing franchise that formed the building blocks that many Playstation games have emulated including The Last of Us and God of War.

Neil Druckmann's most recent comment about Naughty Dog is so funny. Since they don't want to announce which project they're doing, and he's saying they're done with Uncharted he has to do that whole "Well... If we don't find the stories to tell, TLoU3 MIGHT not happen, who knows?"

There's only two options really, either TLoU3 or new IP.

Going back to Uncharted, this is so early that we're not going to see what Visual Arts is doing with Uncharted for many years and that's IF the game ends up shipping. So it's a low priority on my radar right now.

Personally, after seeing some of the pirate kings art and concept art pieces from Uncharted 4
I would really love some pirate shenanigans.

I actually kind of like the idea that ND does the core stories, so they make the full Nathan Drake story and (hopefully) the full Joel and Ellie story, but then they let smaller studios flesh out the world or some of the side characters with the formula that ND made. I've always thought it would be sad to never see another game in tlou's world after ND was done with the main story, especially since the gameplay is so fun and unique, so I think it would be a nice way to get more interesting games in ND's worlds without messing with the main stories and characters (hopefully) and letting Naughty Dog put all their talent and focus into making something new.

An Uncharted Trilogy Remake by Bluepoint Games would be a treat. Remade in the style of TLOUPI. This other studio can do perhaps a soft reboot of the series where Nate and Cassie Drake are the stars. Like God of War's Kratos and Atreus.

I’ll behonest I’m not on board with them rebooting the uncharted series, there is absolutely no need to reboot it the ending was perfect I’d rather them just leave it there than seeing a reboot but I would have no problem for some spin offs tho but thats just my opinion.

Great video Dr. I think your spot on that a different studio will take the reigns on Uncharted. I just hope they still throw us Multiplayer fans a bone with a new Uncharted Multiplayer mode. But considering how the last one went out with a whimper I'm guessing that will not be a focus for them. Us Naughty Dog MP fans are starving out here, please Factions 2... be worth the wait!

I would like it if they leave Nate alone as an old retired Treasure Hunt and just have his Daughter continue the Drake Legacy.
But I'm fine either way if they decide to leave it at 4.

I'm happy with Naughty Dog ending "Uncharted" on a happy note with "Uncharted 4" (Nathan Drake) and "The Lost Legacy" (Chloe Frazer). Even if a different studio's version of another "Uncharted" game ends up not being good, there's always Naughty Dog's version.

Next "Uncharted" game may be a soft reboot and a follow up to "Uncharted 4" and "The Lost Legacy" where a grown Cassie and a grown Meenu (the character nobody mentions in "The Lost Legacy") could go on their adventure, with Nathan and Chloe mentioned.

I'm personally okay with Naughty Dog ending "The Last of Us" on a hopeful note with "The Last of Us Part II" (Ellie and Abby after Joel). Should there be no mainline entry, that's absolutely okay too, as I only wanted the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

A reminder of what the series is actually about... Druckmann has stated that both games are about love, analyzing the best and worst it can offer. In other words, the central identity of the series is love. Of course, it's also about loss, grief, empathy, hope, redemption, and many other themes.

As someone who has never played Uncharted it would be cool if they brought it back at some point
