You know what?
After going through an intensely traumatic incident, seeing a lot of people die and almost freezing to death, a dish of buttery and hot soup with some brandy would probably be perfect.

Seems like a good meal for people who were stuck outside in the freezing cold for an extended period of time

"Do you want some soup in your butter?"

Captain Rostron, of the Carpathia was a true hero. Despite sailing for the Cunard Line, he rushed to the rescue of his competitor line. He ordered the steam aboard his ship to be redirected away from heating the cabins, water, vents, and instead towards the engines giving them maximum speed. He redlined it all the way to the Titanic and in the process, did some damage to his engines that hadn’t been properly broken in yet. This played a role in Carpathia’s sinking as it wasn’t able to provide the speed to evade the three German torpedoes that sank it during WW1.

If you are freezing, anything even slightly warm is heaven. If you've been cold enough you know.

That actually sounds delicious. Like I could do with some of that now that the Winter nights are drawing near

I never thought to add sugar to a helpful meal. I'm glad that those poor survivors were able to have some lovingly prepared comfort food!

The carpathias mechanics and other crew did a very good job getting her to steam very fast towards the titanic once they recieved the distress call.

Crecy in France [as in the 1346 battle] is famous for it's carrots, like Roscoff in Brittany is for onions, or Dijon for mustard.

I screwed up a soup recipe a while back where I was halving the measurements but forgot to halve the amount of butter. It looked a lot like that with similar ingredients (although mine also had a lot of garlic) and probably tasted a lot like that. I thought it was pretty delicious.

My great grandfather immigrated to Massachusetts from Fiume (now Rijeka) aboard the Carpathia in 1914. I often wonder if he knew or cared about the events of the titanic taking place aboard that vessel just a few years earlier.

Funny there is a typo on the menu, it's supposed to be "Pigeon à la merveilleuse" this is the name of the dish. So it would be Pigeon-merveilleuse not Pigeon-mervilleuse.
