Roberto Duran travelled to his opponents hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania to defend his WBA Lightweight world title in 1976. Lou Bizzaro used the huge ring to frustrate Duran, but in the 10th the champion finally caught up with him and sent him to the canvas twice before being saved by the bell. With some assistance from the referee, the brave challenger did well to continue up until the 14th round where Duran finished him with a devastating knockout.

Even Duran didn’t want it to go on he knew it was dangerous for bizzaro, the ref and the corner need to find new jobs certainly ain’t got a fucking clue what the fucks going on here

I had the pleasure of meeting Lou Bizzarro a few months ago. Even with him getting up there in years, he still drives himself around and helps run his family restaurant- he even gets behind the mic and does karaoke every now and again. He was telling me about how Roberto Duran ended up coming to visit his restaurant and how the two became good friends later in life. Super sweet guy, I hope nothing but the best for him and Duran in their golden years.

0:04 - Duran sneaks his back foot under his body. He's standing up straight for a split second then sneaks his front foot forward while keeping his head in the same spot. This is a trick Canelo uses too.

0:05 - Duran measures with his arm's length. Notice his front foot is right beside his opponent's front foot but they seem to not have noticed, too focused on getting herded by Duran away from the corner. As soon as Duran is sure of the distance his right hand is already headed towards the chin.

The thing was Bizzarro was literally running the entire fight and I don't think anyone was digging it. But I agree, his CORNER actually should have stopped it.

Referee did a bad job, he should’ve never been a referee

That poor guy kept getting up like a zombie, the referi should've stopped the fight on the first knock out or maybe the second one, that guy looked like he was half dead.🤣

I’ve seen Duran take it easy on guys before after having them hurt, not on this occasion I guess 🤯
