1. very serious- grave
2. very competitive- cut throat
3. very confused- perplexed
4. very slow- sluggish
5. very annoying- exasperating

For Example: "This video was very helpful" we can change the 'very helpful' to beneficial! So the sentence would be "This video was beneficial"

as a general rule (from an englishman) have fun with it! there are almost always several alternative ways to say something in english. pick the one you like most. bend or break rules intentionally when you feel like it. you'll get points from most natives for stye & creativity.
