When the audition judge gets up to see who she’s looking at, and realizes she’s signing to her family, and he becomes emotional and puts his hand to his mouth… I always cry. He realizes that her love and gift- singing- can’t be shared with her family until she begins signing. And when she does, all the emotion comes pouring out and her music becomes deeper and richer. It’s a beautiful scene.

Un-freakin believable! If this doesn't win an Oscar, it would be nothing short of a travesty. Emilia's performance was beyond stellar and an honor to Joni Mitchel. Had almost given up on Hollywood producing movies worthy of a watch, then this comes along to inspire us all. Well done Emilia and the cast.

Movies like this aren't my kind of thing. But I've seen Emilia in other projects, she protrays an american accent extremely well, plus she learned ASL which can be difficult to master, and learned to sing for this role. She has a bright career ahead of her

Emilia Jones so deserved recognition at the Oscars for this role. For such a young actress to produce such a superbly natural performance, in a foreign accent, and a foreign language, whilst also singing beautifully, is nothing short of amazing. I particularly love the attention to tiny detail, such as where her hands twitch to betray the ingrained need to translate in sign language even before the conscious decision to sign to her family.

Outside of Joni's performance of BSN on the Mamma Cass show in '68( the audio was terrible). This rendition is just beautiful. Certainly ranks as one of my favourite, next to Gordie Lightfoot's many songs.
Just can’t stop listening to it.

Wow. My daughter went to Berklee and it was very hard to get in but she worked hard to get there. This movie reminded me of my daughters struggles to persevere. Great movie and very talented actress.
