naming alkenes and alkynes

Much as alkanes are labeled through the suffix -ane, alkenes and alkynes are made clear through the respective suffixes -ene and -yne. Alkenes have at least one C-C pi bond. Alkynes contain at least one C-C triple bond (a sigma bond and two pi bonds between the same carbons). For cases in which the position of the alkene or alkyne is unclear, a number can be used to indicate the location of the double or triple bond.
