I don't do barre chords. I use triads. I made my own triad charts on excel (1st 3 strings...next 3 strings, next 3 strings....then I noticed patterns. I had trouble memorizing the fretboard...so I put stickers on my guitar...what a game changer. I can figure out the fret notes..but who's got time to count up each string whole/half steps when you just want to enhance a song or solo. I know some people don't think stickers are a good way...but at my over 60 age I think it helped my guitar journey learning time...I also use the capo often. I notice at some of the jams I go to, I can figure things out faster than some of the other players...most likely because they can't find the notes/chords/transposes as fast. Whatever works is my theory...but I play for fun...not to be a pro like you mentioned. Also, I don't care what my guitar looks like with the stickers..it helps me be a better player. At first I used my electric as a learning guitar with stickers, but now I have added them to my acoustic. Thanks for all your inspirational videos..I enjoy your teaching style.

I've been practicing for almost two years now, and I've just started learning bar chords. They are pretty difficult for me, but I see the advantage of knowing them! Like you, I started learning guitar late in life, but I'm having fun and getting better every day! I want to get good enough so people will ask me to play for them. I'm not there yet, but maybe someday I'll get there.
