Autonomous Driving: How Sensors Enable Safe Self-Driving Cars
Показать описание
Enhancing road safety with autonomous driving: Are drivers the problem in driving? #autonomousdriving #selfdrivingcars #roadsafety
Davide Canavesi, Head of Strategy and Business Development, and his team at Scantinel Photonics are determined to change the statistics on traffic accidents caused by human error. With 94% of these accidents being at least partly the result of such mistakes, the team at the ZEISS-supported start-up are working on making a difference. They believe that safe autonomous driving can eliminate crashes in the future.
🧠 Road safety: from guesswork to precision 🧠
The trick to self-driving cars lies in equipping them with advanced sensors that function like a brain. While humans process only 60 out of millions of sensory inputs per second, Canavesi's work with LiDAR technology in autonomous driving aims to enable self-driving cars to perceive and process millions of inputs in real-time – all on a single chip.
This way, we can not only navigate what's immediately ahead of us, but also perceive up to ten seconds of what lies ahead. Better autonomous driving technology in cars allows us to get a different outlook on the future, so every journey is a safe journey.
If you didn't have to drive thanks to autonomous driving, how would you spend your time in your self-driving car until you’ve reached your destination?
