Garmin really needs a trade in program. I love my 955. There's no way I'm upgrading for a long time.

i bought two and tested both out to see which i liked. I returned the epix pro 2. and kept my fenix 7x pro. Having to twist your wrist to turn on the display for epix was getting too annoying. To negate that i turned on the always on display and ate through battery like no other. I've always been a G shock guy so battery life had to be still somewhat relatable. Came from GBDH1000 to GBDH2000 and now fenix 7x pro and i'm glad i made the switch. Casio seems to lost its ways. I dont ask for much but the small features i do use, i want it to be good. Garmin is light years ahead of casio in terms of app. We will see how durable these garmin lasts though. Depending on that i might go back to g shock. I wear my watch every day and work with it on. I also surf, hike, sleep with it so it tends to go through some beating. So far Fenix 7x pro has been the ideal watch. Especially the dam flashlight. This feature itself got me to switch over. It's the best thing i've thought i didnt need but needed in my life.

Yeah — that “gimmick” flashlight on the Fenix 7X is one of the most used features on my watch!

I bought the Fenix 6 last year for 350€. Garmin is so good at making watches that last for years, but is also very good at making you want to upgrade very soon!! I will stick to my Fenix 6 for another year or two waiting for the next big thing or these versions next year at a fraction of their high price. Thanks for the review!!! 🎉🎉

always on MIP display for me with no annoying wrist twisting to see what's on screen. Feels more like an analog watch

As an existing EPIX gen 2 user, I see no reason for upgrading. The watch is still amazing and the new features don't really sway me into buying the newer model. However, if the newer models had included LTE capabilities, THAT would be a game-changer. BTW, the Epix 2 pro 51mm LOOKS BRUTAL man!! I see why that'll be your go-to watch. Great vid as usual! I bought the Epix and then sent it back and swapped it for the Fenix, like other comments below, what's the point of a vivid display if it's switched off. I didn't realise how much I look at it until I got the Fenix and then was annoyed at constantly having to twist my wrist to tell the time (difficult to hide in meetings etc.). It's not practial to have the Fenix always on due to the screen burn risk, and, seeing as I plan on keeping the watch for a good few years this was a deal breaker for me. Fenix it is, and I'm happy with my choice. Hope this helps....

Just ordered the Fenix 7S non-solar for 550€. Should be more than enough for my casual trail running. My previous watch is Forerunner 45 so there's quite a leap

This made my day. As a long time Forerunner, Fenix, and Tactix user (curremtly 7X Sapphire Solar), I’ve been playing with the Apple Watch Ultra with its connected features and nice display, but much reduced sports and fitness attributes. I’m SO glad Garmin is continuing to eat Apple’s lunch, core, seeds and all. The experience of continuously wearing the Garmin devices and getting increasingly personalized data far outstrips the Apple experience, even with additional apps. Now that the Epix Pro has improved battery life as well as the new features, I’ll feel more comfortable adding an Epix to my Garmin setup and (happily) sending the AWU on its way 😅 [I wonder whether Garmin would consider adding Bobbing for Apples as a team activity…]

Awesome video, thank you. I am watching this video in June 2024 and hoping Fenix 8 is on the way soon.

I've been waiting for this review for a year and a half! 😅
Finally a 51mm Epix! I already ordered mine.
Dave, I feel this is a kind of closure, because I bumped into your channel in the beginning of 2022 while searching for Epix Gen 2 reviews before buying it, and I immidiately became a fan ❤
Back then, I really struggles with the decision of Epix vs the 7X. I wanted the bigger screen, but eventually the AMOLED screen broke me. And now, finally! No more struggling!

I have the Apple Watch ultra and was so excited to hear about the epix pro 51 mm( I need that flashlight)! When I got it, it looked amazing and very sharp but I can’t get used to it and actually think I prefer the MIP. When that is in full sunlight it looks almost majestic haha. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but right now I’m regretting getting the epix 51 over the fenix 7x pro

Out of all the other review channels, I trust yours the most. You're always dead on with your information and you're HONEST and to me that goes a long way these days. I'm still on the fence if I want to replace my Epix 2 and get the new Pro....the bigger battery and flash light are pretty cool but are they worth $1100??? That bigger screen sure is pretty though 🤣🤣🤣 what the heck why not! You sold me on it....let's just hope they work out the bugs on the weather overlay. Great job on the video and I appreciate all of you're hard work and dedication. See you at the next review!

The new 51mm Epix seems to be the most interesting among all . Crazy battery life for an oled display.

Looking at buying the Fenix Pro Sapphire Solar or Epics Pro Sapphire both 51mm. Having a hard time making up my mind between the two screens. I am not into flashy and That’s kinda what I think of the Epics when you I look at the side by side. But the Epics seems like the font is more sharp when compared to the Fenix.

Both are great. Tried both. Ultimately Epix is just more beautiful and I have no problem with the battery life. I have mine to display off and just simply tap the screen to see the time. Not worth keeping the display on at all time to take a hit on the battery and felt the even though the Fenix was always on, it was a bit too dull anyways and I'd have to tap it anyways to get it to brighten. And if I am dressing up and want to show off the watch, just turn on the AOD. All comes down to preferences. I think if all you do is hike and stay outdoors all the time and no where near a charger, the Fenix is probably the way to go. If you're like probably +90% of users, the Epix is the better choice. Great thing is Garmin gives us choices!

To start with which watch you choose, I think you should first choose the size you like the most, then the color. I have big hands and wrists and still choose size 47mm which is not a small size and looks best for me (a bit more like a normal watch I think). When it comes to color, I choose silver as I think it is most reminiscent of a regular nice watch (a matter of taste). Then to the choice between Fenix 7 pro or Epix pro, the choice is Fenix 7 pro (47mm) as the battery life weighs a lot for me as I don't like to charge but also want a bit of a normal nice watch feel and like the dials. I wear the watch all the time, for example training, work and parties and when I sleep.
