Intense BOEING 747 landing in Rain & Crosswind

Enjoy a really great shot of a VIRGIN ATLANTIC Boeing 747-400 landing yesterday (Saturday Dec 1st) on a wet runway at London Gatwick Airport in rain and crosswind!

From the wings to the wipers this is a really cool video and well executed landing by the pilots!

I'm almost 70 now, and remember the first time I saw an American Airlines 747 fly over my college campus. I fell in love with it then, and am still in love with it today. After college, I was lucky enough to get a job with American, and within a year or two, was on that exact flight. Great memories! Thank you for the great video!

Something you don't see often; the pilot electing to keep the nose up to utilize aerodynamic braking to bleed off airspeed because of the intense crosswind. Without that the plane would have yawed left and right in rapid succession after the nose gear touched down like you see in most videos of crosswind landings. Fighter pilots utilize this technique the most because of their high stall speeds and some times fast approaches when simulating combat landings.
