"I need to be in this world more" said Curt at one point. That is absolutely the point of everything and I have had difficulty too in embodying myself in this life. Loved this whole intelligent and vibrant discussion, thank you both immensely for your time.

Years ago I was watching my 4 year old son playing by himself. I was struck by the most beautiful experience of simultaneously forgetting myself completely and being aware only of him. I felt I melted away _into_ him. It was possibly the only time I have ever pure love. Total bliss, and even divine in that moment.

However I have always struggled since with reconciling my understanding of the experience as 'love' being the selfless melting away of ego and the total presence of another. Iain has just helped my understanding that I was labouring under a false dichotomy.

I was loving my son _and_ we were one at the same time.

I used to have conversations like this with my father. He died 16 years ago. I've never really found another person that I could have these conversations with. I think this is something that is missing in our culture.

Curt, every few months I am blown away by your progress as an interviewer. Your style of interviewing is unique to other podcasters - the questions you ask hit differently. I grow tired of listening to the same questions being asked of a guest on different podcasts but I'll come back to TOE every time because I know you offer something qualitatively honest and new. Thank you.

I just came across your channel - slept all day due to depression also have admitted myself to the hospital in the last 6months. What you were saying about being so open-minded because the other person may have a valid point, travelling the world in a week, I've never seen anyone online express these same thoughts and feelings - thank you! And praying for your healing as a continuous journey

1:32:31 beautiful to see you so vulnerable, Curt. Really. People who haven’t watched you often might errantly see you as coldly above the fray at times. But that surface reading of you belies your passion and sense of obligation you have consistently exhibited toward these topics. Bravo sir, from a long time fan!!

This might be the most heartwarming, insightful, and high-production value therapy session (for watcher and interviewer alike lol) on Youtube

"the attention that you give reality determines the details given back"

Ian said something like this in a podcast a while back and it completely stuck with me. I've been listening to him ever since. Thank you bith for your huge contribution towards thought👌🏼

I’ve loved Iain McGilchrist since I so fortunately came across a Sunday Time book review of The Master and his Emissary, around 2009-10 when I was 25 years old and had had an awful few years.
His chapter in the Matter of Things brought it all together for me and is so important.

On a side comedy note I never thought he’d echo Madonna (see 17.00), “we are material beings living in a material cosmos.”

So wonderful to see the two of you back together, as each of you draws such gems from the other.

Dear Kurt, I know I speak for the multitude when I commend you for your perspicacity, curiosity and thoughtfulness, they were on display here. I truly believe the YouTube intellectual community, and by extension, the global intellectual community would be much the poorer were it not for your influence. Dr MiGilchrist is onto something here and I can’t wait to read his latest book (or, as you said, ‘tome’ is probably more apt).

I also loved talking with Iain too 🎉

I admire people who combine a polymathic range of knowledge into a coherent piece of work or art.
Goethe, Hegel, Wagner, Schrodinger, von Neumann, Bronowski, and McGilchrist are examples of such minds who are given the umbrella term of "polymath".

Revelatory! As a musician who has struggled with creating and learning, discovering Iain's work has been one of the turning points leading me to a more authentic, embodied practice. I feel like I've reached a ground of truth how to approach music-making now. Thanks for a thorough and insightful discussion, as well as the first with Iain and countless others on this channel.

i'm not always sold on your guests, especially the more fringe and "out-there" thinkers, but guests such as iain are well received, and your thoughtful and well researched questions seem to bring the best out of them.
