The Fallout Situation Is Getting VERY Interesting Now...

As we look ahead with the Fallout franchise, Larian Studios has joined the conversation as a potential developer for the franchise. While they've moved on from Baldur's Gate 3, there are two games in active development at their studios. While it's doubtful one is Fallout, it marks a very interesting situation for Fallout where now both Obsidian and Larian have shown varying levels of interesting the franchise. Combined with a hastened launch for season 2 of the TV show and this franchise could see heaps more activity then it currently does.

Larian is not making a Fallout game. The director literally said it was just one of the IP's he wanted to work on before they got the Baldurs Gate IP. They're already working on their next game and apparently it's something of their own. The other thing is MS owns like 40 studios now and no way in hell they're going to waste money on an outside developer to make a game that big.

I think it makes sense for Obsidian to do New Vegas 2 to keep the franchise rolling under the MS banner. Also I don't think Bethesda wants to let go of mainline Fallout games and seems resistant to remastering the originals.

For me though, the real sleeper here is Larian and Ultima. I think the Ultima world suits the way they make and write their games and they could do something amazing with it.

Whatever happens, I am a Larian fan now. I want to see what they create next and it will probably be among BG3 as my RPGs for the next 10 years.
