I had not done this in a while... It still hurts.
But it also feels great at the same time!

That was the slowest block start I have ever seen

Great job on the run!....you really drove it home on that last stretch. Not sure why some people in the comments are bashing you...many people can’t run a lap in under 60. There’s some pros that run 43 seconds...and there’s some joes that can run a lap in 2mins...most of us fall somewhere in between. So why the hate? 😅

Nice job. Now if you can just do that 7 more times consecutively, you can challenge for the world record in the 2 mile.

That’s actually pretty fast, but why doesn’t it look fast?

a lot of negativity from folks here that don't understand the difference in physical ability of a highschooler who trains daily to a 35 year old with a family and a job. Sub 60 at this gentleman's point in life is pretty badass, considering he ran it solo. also not sure why this popped up in my recommended viewing

Man, it looks like you had fun running this. I'm watching this while binge watching 400m videos in preparation of my meet tomorrow. I don'y know why you got so much hate, but keep doing what you love mate.

imagine posting a 315 bench PR and some clowns commenting that the world record is 800lbs, that's why it's called a PERSONAL record.

I'm a 15yo young athlete with a PB for 400m of 51 secs, so about average in the competitive spectrum. Here's some advise for you in terms of training sessions specifically for the 400m:

-3-4 450m-550ms with 12-15 mins rest in-between to condition your body to the distance.

-5 250ms with 6-8 minutes of rest in-between; this increases stride power and leg endurance, allowing you to bring up your heels and knees higher and faster in the 400m and push off the ground harder. (Note: This is a session from hell!😫)

-2x6 60m max intensity sprints from blocks/4-point-start with a generous 4-5 minutes of rest. This will significantly improves those starts of yours and explosive power in the legs 😉.

-On the occasion, maybe once every 3 weeks, do a 400m sprint session at maximum intensity with a full 15 minutes rest in between. Do 3-4 400s and make sure you keep conscious of your pacing. These sessions are all about:
1) Feeling the improvement of previous training and feeling happy with yourself, increasing confidence and encouraging you to train more.
2) Learning how to pace yourself in the race.
3) Enjoying running your 'favourite event' haha XD.

Side note: Here's the average race plan for ya and what you should be aspiring to follow in your training sessions and races:
-Run the first 5 steps as hard as you can, as if it were the 100m.
-Carry on running hard for the next 50m.
-Chill out for the next 170m.
-Accelerate and really push from when you pass the '180m left to go' mark; however, make sure the new pace is sustainable.
-At around the 50m mark, use all of the energy you have left in your body, mind and soul to get across that damned fucking finish line! WHOO HOO!!

Congrats! I remember the first time I broke 60; did a 58.8. To people watching someone running a Sub 60, you are right, it doesn't look fast. But when you are trying to run it, it feels extremely fast.

This is awesome! I’ve been trying to find a video that shows what 59 seconds looks like, I’m shooting for this time this season, thanks for the video! Also, just wondering how tall are u?

Isn't it mad how the world record for 800 is 50 seconds each 400!

I’m still in the womb and I can run the 400 in 3/10 of a second

Good Form and A great job with pacing. In these types of events, these two mechanics are crucial for a good race, no matter the results.

Honestly I run the 400 currently in high school and it is my last year and my best time is a 55 and I can say from last year to this year I've really worked hard. So I have my opinion on this video and to be honest it is a really great 400m your form was good I'd suggest to open your strides after the first 100m and go about 90% a fast pace jog and at the last 100m go all out. I'd say you do need block work yes but everyone has room for improvement and I'm happy for you bro and the time you got today. So get this time as your base time and go off of that as your PR and at practice do 200m workouts to better your 400 and do some distance running like 2-4 miles as well. I say this from experience and I also did cross country for my senior year of track and doing cross country I lost my burst to take off at the last 100m, but keep working at it and improve I'll be waiting for your videos

Great run, I'm 13 years old and practice hard on the 400m dash, my pr is 58.61, and I plan to improve by up to 6 seconds by the end of my season
