This is a good idea if your primary concern is wanting to see everything, but not if your primary concern is pantry space. This idea cuts down the number of cans you can fit in by more than half.

Makes so much more sense to stack cans and stagger them so you can see them all. Holds twice as many as the "shelf hack"

This doesn't save space, it just reorganizes it to be a display case

Got a small space? Make it even smaller with this handy tip!

For a large family this just won't work lol I have more like 100 cans in my cupboard at least. I double up the cans stacking them up, but I try to group the same cans in rows so no one has to reach in the back. I always fifo too which I hate doing but it works. And leave the odd cans in the last row to the right.
Sounds weird when writing out in a comment how I organize my cans lmao. But yea....

But if you just stacked the cans you could get more in that space as you could stack all the way to the shelf above whereas this method leaves that space EMPTY

This is good for having things visible but it actually means less cans will fit then just doing rows. That means this is better for when you have more space as opposed to less.

Pretty sure I can stack more cans without the rack
🤷🏼‍♀️

As is said, there's theory & there's practice. The wire rack hack LOOKS cool & professionally displayed (theory) but it's impractical (practice) bc you can't really stock up on much. IMO, and my practice, I stack them vertically so I'm able to store more cans that way. Cuts down on shopping trips too. Just "sayin' " . 😊 . FROM NYC .

Though I really love the way this looks, I feel it reduces the amount of storage because you could stack cans and have way more in there. I guess it’s what’s needed more- aesthetics or storage.

Umm you can fit more without the rack by simply stacking your cans that wire rack takes up too much space

You can fit way more cans if you stack them on their sides. Take a sharpie and write the contents on the top like "black beans" "corn" "tomatoes"

This will help me & my bad back from overreaching & having to tiptoe to get to my cans! My pantry is in another room, your 💡 will help me keep my most used items arms reach from my stove! 😊 TY!

“Gotta small space, no pantry?—cut out 1/3 of your cabinet space.” ..totally..

With right hand side, there's no way to get to the cans behind without removing that shelf.

I like it 👍
For those saying that they will forget the things stored behind the shelf, put all your snacks there 😂 You definitely don’t forget where you put the unhealthier snacks. At least I don’t 😂
At the end of the shelf put something easy to remove, like a caddy & put a tray behind the shelf that can slide out to make it easier to access

if you buy the "16 x 8 x 5+"wire stands, you can put in your top end freezer and hang down bags from each slat, clipped on top with those clips that fold down flat, then you can stack your meat packs and tv dinners on top to keep neat and you dont have to move stuff around to get at ....say a bag of blueberries in the back, just clip fruit on one side, veggies in same kind of freezer bags on the other side. Pizzas and bacon pks stack next to shelf standing up, you can literally get at EVERYthing. just keep it pulled in the center so freezer air can circulate. I came up with this and LOVE IT!

I think you could fit more items without the tilted rack. Just install the rack like normal doubling shelf space.

Some are saying putting stuff behind will be forgotten. But if you put corn behind corn, as it rolls empty, you can see them through the shelf and know it's time to get more.

Okay it's cute and a good idea. And it would definitely make you feel good to open your cupboard and see it be beautiful like that. But! You're definitely not going to fit as many cans in there as you would if you just stack them on top of each other and made rows
