I remember the 2011 Red Bull car had a staggering amount of flex on the front wing, it was mesmerising to watch!

The more rigid a piece is, the more fragile it is too. I honestly think the reduced flexing rule should be done away with and let all teams do it, as long as it's not a mechanical movement (like adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers). At this point everyone knows how to do it, and can do it, and it actually costs more trying to stay within the current guidelines.

I think they should go back to simpler aero like we saw in the 90's and let teams run active suspension = less wake for better racing and the active suspension will help maximise the ground effect for downforce

RB probably has alot of genius flexing at the floor. Almost impossible to find out

FIA always seem to want to limit experimentation and advancement in the formula. I hope they open it up more in 2026 but seems unlikely. Sad because the cars differ so little these days.

Thank you Tech Talk for explaining the behind the scene engineering of F1. As a new fan it makes the sport more

They should totally allow flexibility because it make sens to reduce drag at high speed even for our own car

One of the least (if not THE least) appreciated aspects of the sport is the constantly warring factions of team engineers vs FIA rule enforcers; brainiacs trying to stay a step ahead, while other brainiacs try to corral them.

Personally I love it. High-level intelligence vs high-level intelligence -- one side using their giant brains to find ways of interpreting a rule(s) to their advantage, while the other giant brains try to keep them within a prescribed box.
All teams flirt with the edges of, and bend (without technically breaking), the living Hades out of the rules. The workarounds some of them come up with are nothing short of sheer genius.

With the cost cap now firmly in place, more emphasis is placed on the engineers' ability to devise and create parts that tap dance on the sometimes-blurry line of legality without fully crossing it. Throwing $millions at a problem is no longer an option, so I believe creativity in the problem-solving process will only shine brighter -- The need to do more with less being the driving force behind it.

Those folks could work easily find work in the defense industry, air travel, road car design (any high end design work where innovation, performance and safety are all paramount), yet they decided to put those smarts to work for our entertainment -- and, I'm sure, dump truck loads of money.

5:00 its actually easy to do with composites, the tips of the wings can have a lower number of composite plies.

Or even more cheeky, have the same number of plies at the tip but in an orientation that is more flexible under certain loads, and then just cover it up with the advertisement stickers.

Someone should do a video about the constant battle of the FIA and teams

The amount of sneaky technical innovation that can be done in F1 is always astonishing

The FIA is finally about to give physics it self a +5 sec penalty
