What a year to follow politics in F1...

Some people argued that RB could still do well without Newey because he doesn't build the car all by himself, but the fact is that his influence on the team is bigger than just designning the car, and it's obvious as soon as he was outcasted by RB's management, things started to went off the rails for them.

Red Bull complaining about their rivals wings flexing too much....oh the irony.

Is there any footage to show it? When the issue was with RB/Mercedes, then rear view camera showed it clearly.

Really like the way you make the connection with
Newey departure. many people will not easily see the
connection. Thanks !

most things you said about Newey are the opposite of what he said about himself in his book

I'm typically a RB fan, but in response to this: Then develop the car in that direction. Who cares? All the teams should be putting their cost cap dollars/euros into whatever area they think will bring them the most advantage. If this front wing concept is more advantageous than other shit they could be working on, then develop it. (i totally get it that they would prefer for the advantage to just be deleted from their rivals so that RB then get to catch up "for free" and the other teams effectively "wasted" their development. I just think that "if you don't do anything we'll have to develop the car in the same way" means nothing in this cost cap era).

You do the best concise, but thorough, explanations on these topics! Thank you!

Thanks for the insight. I was wondering already, that that can’t be a coincidence with Newy leaving and RB Performance going down.

The next regs have movable aero… maybe let the engineers innovate a little and get over all the pearl clutching

Ferrari Williams and RB are complaining about Mclarens wing. Wasn’t just RB. When Williams gets into the convo you know something is wrong.

I saw a video of McLaren MCL38 front wing flex and it look bad, but most assumed a fix suspension and it exaggerate the visual movement of the wing. Front suspension will move up( compression) while wing moved down. Do not trust you eyes, mesure, mesure, mesure.

Wow, Christian Horner complaining the second things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows. What a shocker!

This topic was part of the F1 rules some decade ago, when aeroelastic tailoring ( referred here ad flexi wing) was used by the most of teams...with results close to disaster: front wings hitting the ground at high speed, transforming in carbon fiber debris along the track. It was a blind attempt to introduce in the cars aeronautical concept still far from the real needs of the F1 world.
I doubt that the return to this application will make F1 less boring than it is nowadays 😀

Given that the Red Bull has problems over the bumps, I think it's a bit early to claim that their lack of dominance is down to Newey. Seems more likely that this is circuit specific and McLaren and Ferrari have closed the gap in performance. If Red Bull dominate in Spain or a later race, does that automatically mean Newey had no impact on understanding the car setup? I don't blame them for moaning about flexi wings, given how many complaints there were about the Red Bull in 2021. The whole paddock contradict themselves whenever it suits them.
