2004-2008 Ford F150 shifter knob replacement

Forgive me for my lack of proper terminology. But the chrome cap fell off my 2004 Ford F150 lariat and I purchased a replacement. Could not find proper directions. I am not saying "this" is proper but I believe it does a better job than the rest of the out there. Hope this helps!

Why didn’t you finish the installation to show the sliding of the inner shroud up to lock the handle in place? That’s the part I’m struggling with. My inner shroud will not slide up to lock the handle.

Good intentions, but it was not started from the very beginning & most of what was videod, was focused on the seat, floor, or anywhere else than the shifter itself...

Why did you replace the know? Was it causing the shifter to lock/stick? My truck shifter is not engaging so that's why the 5th degree. Lol

What is the purpose of the red ring piece in your video. It looks like it might hold the button out, and forgive my lack of knowledge on this. Please post an answer when you get a chance.

when you get a new one... it is on there doing exactly that... holding the button out so it doesn't get pressed in... just take it off...

Fairly good info, not so good video...a big portion of it was either obstructed or aimed at the floor, dash, seat...not the shifter...😅
