Our advice is to call ambulance if seizure lasts over five mins, if you know it’s a 1st seizure or if you're in doubt. We say five mins as many seizures stop in this time and they won't need to go to hospital. We focus on ensuring ppl are safe when having a seizure. We don’t include specific info about other treatments ppl may have had such as Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) or pacemakers. If you've had VNS we'd encourage you to include this info on any ID you carry so emergency services are aware

I suffer from tonic clonic seizures and a few have been severe enough to involve my friends calling an ambulance.  Luckily most of my friends are aware of my condition (for everyones benefit) and I have a medical ID.  I was either slightly injured or just not conscious of what had happened/where I was.  In most cases the seizure lasted more than 5 mins or I had another one shortly after.  On the last occasion in March I stopped brething and went blue and my friend had to hit me in the chest several times to get me breathing again.  (I had blood from my tongue on face so cpr wasnt an option while waiting for the ambulance) Your video is spot on.  There isn't enough information out there for memebers of the public.

Thank you for posting these videos up! First semester of college I took a CPR class and got my certificate but yesterday when I saw someone fall to the ground and have a seizure I didn't know what to do..I was very upset that I didn't step up although I didn't really know what to do but the guy turned out okay..I'm more prepared now to save a life if it ever comes to it. :)

ACTION: Assess Cushion Time Identity Over (recovery position) Never (never restrain the person)

I think you have misunderstood the video. We recommend that you call an ambulance if it's the person first seizure or if the seizure lasts for more than five minutes or if one seizure follows another without them waking up or if they're injured or need medical attention. Not every time this happens.
You should never restrain the person during a seizure, but we recommend that you cushion their head by using a pillow, rolled up sweater or soft item.
You can check for ID after the seizure.

This is a ridiculous comment. The video is clear, concise and accurate.

your comments are not - you should NOT try to clear their airway, nor hold them - at most put their head in your lap in order to prevent it 'bouncing' on the floor.

Follow the advice given in this video - it's good advise and will minimise the effect of the seizure.

Shouldn't you call an ambulance straight away, encase you cant tell whether or not it is the first time the person has had a seizure? I wonder how easy it would be to see if someone is wearing a medi-bracelet at times.

What is stupid is people not being aware of the condition, lack of training in schools for basic things like first aid which can cover other conditions i.e diabetics as well etc etc. There needs to be more awareness and videos like this are important. When you come around from a seizure, probably most people like my self just want to get on with life.
