I've had mine for 4 years, it is all metal, no plastic and I made 2 modifications: (1) I removed the springs and it worked very well afterwards. I also made the smallest hole a bit larger to accommodate a more common wire thickness that I strip. Finally, you are a bit rough when operating this tool. I take my time and strip my wire while watching TV. Good luck.
