Welcome to my YouTube channel. This channel is the home for all your vintage Mid-Year Corvette content. In today's video we are testing my 327 build at Rhodes Performance. They built the 327's in our other 2 Corvettes to stock specifications. This time I wanted to have a little more fun. I opened up my check book and went full send!! If you enjoyed this video check out Motortrend's Engine Masters. They had a couple 327's built and they are rippers also. Mine is a little more tame than theirs but we hit the nail on the head with this combo!!

I forgot to mention the lift on the cam. It’s .555/.555. Below is the link for the cam.

I just finished restoring a 1963 Corvette Split Window and I am starting another split window build but this time its a race car build. I will be making videos twice a month on the car so please like and subscribe. I will be making videos on my 1963 Corvette Split Window, my dad's 1965 Corvette, my race car split window build, my friends 1960 Corvette, and other projects that I find along the way. Let me know what you think about the video. Enjoy!!

Sit back and enjoy the show!

Way before Chevrolet "claimed credit" for it ... we were taking a 327 block, with a 283 crank, 12.5 -1 pistons, 375 solid cam (no rollers then), a 750 dominator, and FI heads. We were making over 500 hp and, not only that, the engine would last an entire season in my 1957 Chevy Coupe while running the quarter mile stock car track in West Branch, Michigan. Not only did it generate the HP, it would spool RPM's so quick out of a corner you truly had a big advantage on the field. Such a great experience.

Nothing sounds sweeter than a 327 at full song. Nice work!

I just recently acquired 1964 Chevrolet Impala and it came with a factory 327, I love the setup that you did because this is kind of what I'm wanting to do with mine. I want an all-around car that I can do whatever I feel like at the moment! Nice video and nice build, thanks for the inspiration!

Man I have a 69 327 dropped in a 82s10 I freaking love it. I’m only push 420hp at the moment but I still have double hump heads on it fixing to upgrade soon. I bet that things eats the tires like these no tomorrow lol. Nice set up!!

I had a very similar set up just like this!
327 bored .062 over, AFR 195 64cc heads, JE forged pistons, titanium wrist pins, Carillo H beam rods and a Crower Billet steel crank. Solid roller cam and edelbrock torquer II intake and a demon 750 carb.
It ran like a scalded ass rabbit and revved to 8500. Most people dont know how wicked these 327s can be.

I grew up in the 70s and the 327 was the small block to have back then. It is great seeing one built out like your screamer.

I love those 327 small journal. Bored mine 60 10:1 flat top cut the deck 20 500 lift 308 duration 650 Holley double pumper ported camel heads. I had it in a 69 corvette with Muncie 4 speed with 373 gears. I left the line at 6 grand every time. I raced a friend of mine that had a 68 Camaro with a 383 stroker powerglide and 5:14 gears. He only beat me a half a car length in the 1/8 of a mile!! Love those 327. You have a nice 327!

I did 8 grand a couple of times in my LT-1 71 Z28 back in the day, of course, it was because I missed a shift!!! Nice to see a 327 build with those AFR heads on top of it, well done.

A good analogy for piston speed is to think of a football field. A 327 and 350 for comparison. If one runner represents the 327 and one reps the 350. Both need to start at goal line(BDC) run to a distance out(TDC) and back to the goal line (BDC) again arriving at the same time. The 327 only needs to run to the 30 yard line(short stroke) but the 350 would need to run to the 40 yard line(longer stroke). So to arrive at the same time back at BDC the 350 runner needs to run faster to make up the extra distance. Extra stress and inertia to contend with. Not to scale i know but I think it works.
Then there’s the small journal compared to a large journal which is like a merry go round. Outside rider, large journal needs to cover more distance which equals needing more speed to arrive at one full rotation (360deg) at the same time as inside rider the small journal.

Building a 62 327 motor with edelbrock heads and 30-30 Z28 cam for my 55 chevy wagon that was a drag car back in the 60s. Not sure what HP will be but hoping for 400. With a four speed M20 and 3.7 gears it should scoop. Nice build up.

That's the way to have one to have fun with. No numbers matching investment.
