I like how .tf's Wikipedia page says: Intended use - Entities connected with the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. Actual use - Websites related to the video game Team Fortress 2.

its kinda cool how such opportunity struck a random small country instead of a big one like US UK Germany etc.

This right here is some of the most interesting and well thought out content on youtube with nowhere near as much attention as it deserves!

That Tonic website was so delightfully 90's, I loved it

You're like an Australian Tom Scott, I have been watching your videos for a while, they are quite enjoyable and get me through work! Only shame is that you're from Melbourne.

This video's honestly so high quality, it deserves far more than just a few thousand views. Really interesting how many things go on in the world that we just never think about or find out!

Tuvala also make a lot of money by denominating silver and gold coins with their official Tuvaluan dollar which makes the coins more valuable to collectors because it's marked in an official currency.

I knew about Tuvalu and that story (it's a common quiz question), but not the others! Brilliant stuff!

Thats not how freenom makes their revenue. Once the domain hits a certain amount of traffic that they deem high enough. They take the domain back without warning. Then you need to pay to get it back after you’ve already built up traffic to that domain.

They trick you into putting hard work into a website under that domain, then they threaten to take it away unless you pay without warning.

Finally a youtube video that was well researched, well presented, and not too long! Fantastic work Julian, thank you.

Damn imagine going to a small island nation and paying $10 for dinner and ending up having a personal chat with the Prime Minister

Hey Julian, keep up the great work! The content is great, and you're doing everything right to hopefully explode in popularity/ engagement. I don't comment much, but I thought as a fellow melbournian I'd wish you luck, and just say keep going!

"My wife and I are going on our honeymoon to the Pacific Islands!"

"Oh yeah, which island in Pacific?"

If you notice on the map at around 1:06 some of the African countries are a bit large too (Mali, Gabon, Central African Republic, and Equatorial Guinea specifically.) Along with Tokelau in the Pacific, these countries also allow for free registrations of their respective domain names.

I've commented in a total of 10 videos in my life, at most. But this... This was fire! Keep up the great work!

I had a .tk address as a teen back in the 00s. It utterly blew my mind back then that I could register a domain and put whatever I wanted on it for free!

Your videos are SO interesting! I don't usually click on videos that look like a boring topic I won't be interested in, but I know that pretty much anything you release will be interesting. Such a great vid as usual! You seem to tap into the parts of a topic that are actually juicy. You have a real knack for delivering the best of the information on any topic.
