Hey there, Live Leaners! Brad Gouthro here, and today I want to dive into a topic that's been getting some buzz: bodyweight workouts. I've been sharing a lot of these workouts lately, and it seems like there's some confusion about their role in my training regimen.

Let's clear the air, shall we?
Now, don't get me wrong—I love me some weight training. It's the cornerstone of my fitness routine, and I've never shied away from that fact. But here's the deal: I also incorporate a ton of bodyweight exercises into my workouts, and there's a darn good reason for it.
You see, bodyweight workouts offer a whole slew of unique benefits that you just can't get from pumping iron alone. For starters, they're accessible to everyone. No fancy equipment required—just you and your body. Plus, you can do them anywhere, whether you're at home, outside, or holed up in a hotel room on the road.
But here's the kicker: despite what some skeptics might say, bodyweight workouts can pack a serious punch when it comes to building muscle and torching fat. Sure, they might not be as flashy as pumping iron in the gym, but trust me—they get the job done.
Now, as someone with an ectomorph body type (translation: I'm naturally on the skinnier side), I've had to work extra hard to pack on muscle. And while my focus is primarily on weight training, I've found that incorporating bodyweight exercises into my routine has been a game-changer.
So, what are the benefits of mixing bodyweight workouts with weight training?
For starters, it's a killer way to target and activate specific muscles. Bodyweight exercises like push-ups and squats allow you to really hone in on those muscle groups and get them firing on all cylinders.
Plus, throwing in a quick set of bodyweight exercises before or after your heavy lifts can help increase your heart rate, boost calorie burn, and even stimulate your central nervous system for greater strength and power.
But perhaps the biggest benefit of all? Bodyweight workouts just make for dang good workouts. Seriously, ask any top athlete or Navy SEAL—they'll tell you that bodyweight exercises are a key component of their training routine.
So, there you have it, folks. Bodyweight workouts aren't just for beginners—they're for anyone looking to take their fitness game to the next level. And if you want to join me on this journey, I've got just the thing for you: Team Live Lean.
