Today I'm sharing my top tip on how to prevent severe (3rd/4th degree tears during birth)
Ask your provider (doctor/midwife) if they avoid use of routine episiotomies and if they ONLY use episiotomy in emergency situations!

I hear hundreds of positive birth stories now and I love hearing how preparing your mind and body makes such a huge difference in your birth. Of course, I'm so excited for you and I really believe you can have your positive birth and beautiful baby!

Thank you. My first birth, I completely refused to have an episiotomy done. The midwife was forcing me to have it done telling me I was going to rip. I told her I'd rather rip naturally than get her to cut me. Long story short, baby came out fine, I had no tears or cuts.
Mothers listen to your guts. The midwife was there with her scissors ready to "make her job easier" by cutting me. At the end she had nothing to say.
I've had other births and my number one birth plan is No Episiotomy.
We can do it, we were built for this.

Studies show that lying on your back to give birth actually increases your risk of tearing and breaking your tailbone. It also makes the birthing process longer and more painful. Women giving birth on their back is unnatural. Historically, women have always given birth in an upright position via squatting. This is because gravity will naturally work with you, making it easier for you to push out the baby. Think about it, you wouldn't lie down on your back to poop, would you? Trying to poop while laying down would be much more strenuous.

Just to offer an alternative position, I had an episiotomy with my eldest. It meant he was born almost immediately afterwards and all the pain stopped after he was out. Both of us were getting distressed and tired and an episiotomy was probably the best bit about the birth experience for me. It healed well and this time around i have asked for one to be performed if they think it will help. The ideal is obviously a tear free birth with no issues whatsoever but I just wanted to give a positive episiotomy story.

That's why I chose to birth at home with my own conditions (low light, warmth, food, chosen position and very little people around) i didn't tear, i pushed when i felt the urge to, not when told
And baby was perfect and fine, we had a good recovery (:

They had to cut me 4 times for my senior daughter's giant head (the baby was not well, so there was no time to waste!), stitched it, and it healed very well. For my younger daughter they tried to avoid cutting - and I tore. They said it was a minor tear, so no need for stitches. That was 25 years ago and I feel the 2nd one to this day 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I had a 3rd grade tear after an episiotomy... but the baby was suffering and I was exhausted, they just wanted to accelerate the process.
thanks for the channel by the way 😁

I am so thankful to find out that my hospital has some of the lowest rates of episiotomy and c sections in the country 🙌🙌🙌

Anyone who tries to cut me there is getting a kick in the face 🙃

Or you can homebirth and statistically decrease having any interventions done, or during your labor and delivery.❤

So glad I can home birth. I can't imagine having this battle with my provider.

And what happens if you can’t choose who is on call when you give birth? There are several doctors at the office I go too, do I need to ask every single one of them the same question and hope for the best?

Suggested ways to get off your back if you have an epidural?
What is the truth behind a cervical lip and episiotomy being best way to get baby out (on back/with epidural)?

Planning 2VBAC worried about repeat episi, major tearing. Not medically required for babe to be delivered at 37w this time.

The body is meant to tear where it needs to IF it needs to.... it is an unnecessary procedure.

Wrong. She’s leaving out the part where some women get a tear through the anus and become incontinent. Episiotomys aren’t done on a whim. Sometimes they save a load of suffering later on.

They cut my mom, my dad said they said so it’s like a controlled cut vs a year from the babies head … sounds odd to cut before they even know if they have to or not but I thought I kind of made sense, like make a path so if she does tear it’s not a crazy gagged one idk??
