I majored in Electrical Engineering and yes I didn't go to a single party during my time in college. Not because I didn't want to but because I always had a ton of homework to do. I mean a ton!!!! It was like a full time job. Nonetheless, I am now a professional engineer registered in the state of texas (look me up if you don't believe me). As soon as I graduated and earned my first engineering job, I realized how glad I was to have pushed through studying and pulling the all nighters. I went from making $9/hr as a bbq caterer to making $30/hr as an engineer. Now I make over $55/hr and I'm only 27 years old, plus I love my job. Engineering is hard but the rewards are worth it.

I'm an Electrical engineer, and yes, someday, you will find yourself in a situation that you will not even have time to scratch your head, it can be really stressful, but it's worthy, cuz the future is what matters.

I was lazy as hell in high school but I wasnt planning to be an engineering major. I did very well on exams but didnt do much of assignments. When I started college my "home" life became nearly unbearable. I know my potential. I know I can get through these classes but when you have nowhere to recharge your batteries you get worn down more and more. I know if i had a place of my own my gpa would be much better and so would my state of mind be. I hope anyone who feels this way knows they arent alone. My sister told me the other day that she felt encouraged by me for pushing myself to do well on some exams even though we have had been going through some rough weeks and I felt like I was running on empty. What she didnt know was she was the one motivating me

My advice is:

1) EE is not for everyone, I’d say truly pursue it if you’re passionate and actually enjoy it even though it’s painful. Being “interested” isn’t good enough at the highest level.

2) Not just EE but in engineering general, you gotta have the engineering mind, meaning gotta have the creativity skills, problem solving skills, and intuition.

3) To set yourself apart from others aside from GPA and projects, is to learn EE related stuff outside of your course curriculum. Maybe do a personal project for fun.

4) Understand that, Education will certainly give you some exposure of experience and knowledge(especially lab courses), but overall teaches you how to learn and be disciplined which is critical in industry.

5) Never stop learning. Keep applying yourself in the field under no circumstances.

I have finished 8 of 10 semesters.

It's hard.

Even if you take AP Calculus in high school, always take Calculus 1 while in college. It's whole different playing field when taking Calculus 2 after taking it in college vs high school.

Always heard from my classmates that Electrical is one of the hardest engineering paths. Great video!

Electrical Engineering is what I am pursuing. Thanks for making this video

I went into engineering because that's what my family does. I have an uncle who is a professor in physics, and engineering, a few other uncles with masters in various engineering disciplines, and my dad who is an electrical engineer. I myself am going into environmental engineering.

Im a an electrical engineering student at Arizona State University . If you think this career is for you, just know youll have to work MF ass off to get those passing grades.. Trust me there will be days youll want to drop out because how hard it is and stressful. But itll be worth it.. Have a strong mind set when you enter any engineering field. Good luck !

PS, youll have to love being a STEM(science technology engineering math) major to join this type of field. Dont do it for the money do it because you love the interest...

I can second the tip stating that connecting with profs and getting good grades opens up research opportunities. This is great experience towards a career and many universities offer paid positions for student researchers.

Too bloody hard. That hard. At least where I study. Especially for a computer engineering student. I write this after spending LITERALLY the ENTIRE day (with breaks obviously) surfing the net and reading the book to death just to figure out how the bloody **** they managed to get the finite closed loop gain of a non inverting op-amp given finite open loop gain. Since you know, they thought it was a brilliant idea to skip the whole bloody process and just jump to the formula.

My two years younger self would have shed tears of frustration by now but my spirit is already broken that I can only muster anger.

From my experience as so far completing 3 years of Electrical Engineering with a Weighted average mark of 73, the main trait you need is commitment. Like maths doing an EE degree requires strong emphasis on the progression of your subjects because they overlap. Finish all your homework and assignments and do independent research and spend some time in the lab and you will definitely hit 80+. As I said all it really is is commitment, and you will also find that once you are able to balance out your time and work hard, you can do other extra curricular things to buff up your resume. Me personally I have messed about a little too much hence the subpar result, but also remember that you need to really like EE or you will definitely fail or barely pass.

If you have intellectual curiosity & passion nothing's hard unless you give up.

Currently in my 4th year, my EE program takes 5 years to complete. The field is incredible and offers so many opportunities it's amazing. It also has many many internship opportunities for students 16 months, 12 months to summer coops thry got it all. The field is hard but with hard work, it becomes extremely rewarding.

I’m an electrical engineer from Pakistan and female. And looking at the job market here, it’s pretty bad. I’m unemployed. But I pursed this course because I had passion for it.

Any Engineering branch is not harder . To do engineering you need passion, interest and maths . If you have them both engineering is easy .

GPA is not everything. Today, many engineers need good soft skills as well. So, yes, do your best to get the grades. However, DO NOT let anyone tell you that you cannot do it with a lower GPA. I have a 3.0 and I got a part-time job as an electronics technician. I'm on my way to finishing my BSEE now.
