The idea of living in California after completing my engineering degree is absolutely insane. My Dad was a mechanical engineer in TX making over 125k yearly plus bonuses in a small town. Your rent is well over twice the cost of a mortgage in a nice house there. You could literally be stacking your money into a legit asset aka a home and continue to contribute to that 401k.

No way I'm going to invest all this time just to see half my money get thrown down the incinerator. P.S. TX isn't the only state with a MUCH lower cost of living.
