Football Manager Beginners Guide: Club Improvements

Football Manager exists in a dynamic universe where everything can change over time. This includes stadiums, facilities, training grounds, owners, youth recruitment, and even youth intake quality. This means that over 10’s, 100’s, or even 1000’s of years FM can undergo massive changes just the same as in real life. The only thing that doesn’t change is the likelihood of quality players being produced from different countries, like Brazil will always produce more good players on average than Angola. Everything else can change, and you can make them change.

To do this, you have to interact with the board. This is often a point of significant frustration for many who start out in FM. That’s why we’ve gone here next. Every save is different when it comes to what options you have to interact with the board, but there is one constant, your life in football manager will always be easier if you can get what you want from the board screen. We always want something, here is how to get it.

My board have turned the game from a football simulation into an accountancy simulation. I've lost count of the times I've threatened to resign in a fit of pique and they've accepted it. I've had to reload the game so many times I'm getting concerned about the life expectancy of my hard drive!

Best tip when building a new stadium is you have atleast 95% attendance rate and secure finances.

I agree with the huge variance in owners. In my FM11 Bielefeld save, my owner regularly accepted bids on players if we got a decent offer. In my FM14 Leeds save, the club was brought by the Oyston family (which sent a shiver down spine), but it worked out OK. I guess for legal reasons they couldn't have them behave in the game like they did IRL at Blackpool.
