Keep an eye on match momentum during matches. If you're not creating anything, fiddle with width instruction (narrow to wide etc) and keep an eye on whether it improves. If opposition having a lot of good chances, drop your line or push it up. They're the changes I make during matches.

Another thing about the agent negotiation. Once you get him to agree to a lower wage, you can make the contract start date at the end of the season so you still pay him the lower wage for the rest of the year and only later the higher fee. If you do this without the negotiation, he'll ask for a much larger wage than if you don't.

To do the training schedule, just pick the staff element with the highest discipline and determination, and you will have green ratings all over the place 👍🏻

Some things I do that Kev didn't mention. I don't lose very often either.

1.I use Opposition Instructions always. I want the other team playing under pressure and on their weaker foot as that makes them worse players.

2. When your injured player gets to yellow injury status, put them on Injury Rehab, by choosing Training--Additional Focus--General Rehab. This seems to help with keeping your team healthy

3. I rarely have the mid-season slump, possibly because I slightly change the formation/roles during the pregame, which may make it harder for the match engine to crack your tactic.

I used to download tactics left and right untill I found something that worked. This year I did what you said, tweaked the defaults to suit my team. PL and CL trophies in the second year.
Only difference, I use all 3 recommended tactics.
Gegenpress to counter tikitaka and control possession.
Fluid counter-attack to counter gegenpress.
Control possession against everything else.

Undefeated in the third season.

When it comes to player interactions I've usually found the best approach is just to tell them the truth. If someone comes in and wants a better contract and you are already at close to your wage budget, tell them "the club can't afford it" and they'll probably agree. If they complain about playing time, ask them to lower their squad status, ; if they are actually worse than whoever's playing over them, they'll probably agree. This is also influenced by your reputation and leadership support; if you have a higher reputation than your players they'll be intimidated by you and you can often push them around to see things your way.

In pretty much all cases you'll always have a chance to spin them a story and see if they buy it before you back down.

the success rate of the agent reducing demands relies heavily on how interested the player is in the transfer which you can see before you ask for a wage reduction, you can see with Balogun he was only slightly interested in a transfer which is why he wants a higher wage range

This is possibly the best guide on FM I've ever seen. Very well done, keeping things simple.
Too many times I see people worry about improving the last few percent while ignoring the fundamentals.

I was on a very poor run of form, dead last at the mid season break with threat of relegation. Followed your advice to just use the recommended tactics and have my assman pick my best IX… already on a 4 match winning run. Thank you 😂

In lower divisions, look for loans on transfer deadline day. Teams will get desperate to offload players then and you're likely to be able to better players or players with paying less of their wages. I got a good Serie A CB on loan in League 1 because the team wanted to offload him.

On the installments tip, I believe they do have an impact on future finances.
We just don't get to see them or the impact of them much, unless we bother too much looking for them.

Also, as a tip, you could strike deals with yearly installments going up to SIX YEARS rather than "just" three.
You'll have to add in the 3 year option, add the 2 year option and the 1 year option (in that order) and you should manage to total 6 years worth of installments. Didn't do it myself yet, but seen someone do it and share it on Youtube. Sounds like overkill, but Arsenal paid Pépé's transfer fee over 4 or 5 years 🤷‍♂️

+1 for looking after team cohesion and including team bonding in training regimes. Makes a massive difference.

I ALWAYS have one Team Bonding each week every season! This boosts morale and helps new players to perform better (if that was an issue before).

The thing with Installments is that they will be deducted from the bank balance inform of transfer debt but not from your actual budget so there is nothing to worry about

Use transfer deadline day to get bargains. Loan listed and transfer listed players will be loads cheaper.

I always set up training schedules for Saturday and Wednesday-Saturday match weeks, so I can just select the schedule that works for the matches I have. Quicker than adding in the match reviews and team bonding manually.

In fairness, the player morale transfer policy works for Ange at Spurs right now. He generally looks to get rid of players due to their personalities and he's worked wonders at Spurs

Making huge changes to your tactic during a match or a season may be easy in your manager's mind, but you have the entire squad to explain it to. I like to envision how it would look in real-life and I would see a lot of question marks above my players heads when I'm trying to explain all the changes.

"Don't do inverted wing backs"

Why not? Pair them with wide centre backs on attack. As an alternate counter attacking system where you defend from the front and attack from the back.

It works. But you have to build the squad for it. But when it works, its so good to see.

In regards to contracts, after asking the agent I always leave it a day or two before starting the renewal. Could just be a bug but I find that if the agent agrees to a lower wage, when you start talks with the player he still wants the original wage demands, however leaving it a day or two he then will accept the negotiated demands.

My favorite thing in FM24 is the Intermediaries. They can move players fast, really fast. It is really nice and I have seen a lot of success selling players all over the world.
