I actually have context for this, theres no virus in specific that do this but viruses could do this if they were programmed to as you can make custom blue screens with command prompt. Chances are that is what they did, though viruses could so if you actually do get it, the virus is likely doing other things such as stealing your information.

CONTEXT: It is infiniteblue which was a virus for windows 7 much like the pankoza malwares, it’s not different at all. it gives you a infinite bsod that’s goes forever and doesn’t stop.

IT professional here, and someone that grew up tinkering with computers my whole life, while i haven't seen a screen like this personally, it wouldn't be that hard for someone to make this if they knew what they were doing, it has been extremely well known on how to replicate and what mechanisms that the BSOD or Windows Kernel Panic procedures uses in system memory, and unlike older versions of Windows where the BSOD will kick you out of Windows and into a DOS shell, Windows 8 and onwards just covers the screen with a shell cover since physical DOS is a relic of the past, that being said, it wouldn't be limited to just a Worm, it could be anything from a Trojan Horse program, to a Rootkit that can blank out the system with this screen, either way, suffice to say, the smiley face is just a hacker's way of messing with the victim while they royally screw over the computer, and if it is either a Rootkit or something similar, then powering off the system will be the last thing that machine does as more than likely the master boot record is likely cooked at that point.

TL;DR: while i haven't personally seen this, it is entirely possible to make this, and as such could very much be real, and it wouldn't be that hard to do if someone knew what they were doing.

Its not a virus. Its just an edited photo. From the information given in this video, that BsoD was not in computers until atleast 2010. Those worms he told about were probably in the 80s-90s. Don't worry, its a real BsoD, it was just edited to have a smiley emoticon instead of a frowning emoticon.

Hey, I actually have had this experience before when installing and setting up my new PC. For me the problem was fixed when I bought and plugged in a new graphics card of higher quality. You just need to be careful to not touch anything on the screen if this text prompt shows up, let it sit and play around with your graphic card settings since it can mostly be a designer issue.

In other words, I have had this and it is not a virus, just a mainframe building mistake. I did however think the same way at first but since this was not my first PC I knew the problem.

To be clear, the fact that its a smiley face or not really doesnt matter. alot of malware can and will destroy your computer regardless, especially if its kicking you to blue screen AT ALL. It being a smiley face would just be a meme by said virus, if its coded to do that.
